The Weight of the World

No one reads this blog. I write for me, a passion project, an online diary, a place to gather the disparate parts of myself into one whole. A place where I can write about the shoes I love, the art that’s inspired me, the beauty of seasons and the interesting article I read yesterday on the mental health of teens.

There’s absolutely no requirement for me to post anything and yet I feel obligated to write this for myself, as a mother, a woman, a human in the world, for as cheesy as it sounds we are all connected through these roles.

I read a beautifully moving article about stillbirth from a fathers perspective. It will stay with me. It opened my eyes to the nuances of grief, the various ways it impacts and the very many it impacts.

I think it’s so important not to lose sight of this individual impact in times of trouble. It humanises us and it reminds us to have humanity.

In this modern, connected world, a world which has so many benefits, we all carry the weight of other’s trauma on our shoulders. It can be a lot. We all do what we can. It is a time to look after ourselves and others to the best of our abilities.
