Autumn is Here

The first of October always signals the start of Autumn for me. I really do love the seasons of the UK. Having lived abroad they were something I hadn’t realised I would miss but they are no longer something I take for granted. Autumn is always beautiful; the leaves, conkers, blackberries, the darker nights, the start of cosy season. Slightly surreally this year the sun is shining through the window and yesterday we had a BBQ with friends but this hasn’t stopped me thinking about slightly more traditional Autumn things.

Firstly it has to be crumble. We made our first apple crumble last week and it is always a hit with everyone. The apple tree’s are hanging with fruit. Definitely add blackberries if you have any still ripe where you are.

This toadstool jumper for the little people in your life is so so cute.

I’m re-reading Persuasion.

Corduroy can be a bit of a marmite fabric. I fall down on the side of fabulous for Autumn. I have a cord mini skirt from M&S last year to wear with tights as it gets cooler (I also fall on the side of mini skirt’s for all ages) but this looks great as an alternative. Also the jeans!

Have you bought your bulbs yet? Now is the time for planting everything apart from tulips which need to be done when a little colder in November. The best varieties sell out quickly so get ordering ASAP. Our garden is still not ready to have anything done to it but if it were I’d be buying one of these super helpful bulb guides.
